My name is Barbara Miroslaw and I am an assistant professor at Department of General and Coordination Chemistry and Crystallography (former Crystallography Department), Institute of Chemical Sciences, Faculty of Chemistry at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin (UMCS). My research involves crystal structure of small organic molecules and coordination compounds. I study intermolecular interactions in crystals of compounds of various biological activity. I am particularly interested in the dipole interactions and the influence of the presence of halogen atoms (halogen bonding) on the packing of the molecules in the crystal.
The second field of my research is the structure of coordination compounds with transition metals and lanthanides. In my research, I have focused on the coordination architecture of complexes with interesting properties such as magnetic, luminescent or catalytic.
In my work at UMCS I use X-ray crystal structural analysis, IR spectroscopy and computational chemistry.
